Preordering for money, you always have to pay extra money to pre order a game/console, it's nothing different but guild wars added some stuff into it, but they didn't have to.
The reason why korean, japan, taiwan players get better stuff, is because ANET sales on guild wars in the asian countries are crap, that's why they also have coca cola promotional items, they're doing this to make more money, if ANET was selling well over there, they probably wouldn't have those items. Unless you got a suggestion for ANET being able to sell more copies of guild wars over there, then you shouldn't be complaining about it.
The extra $5 dollars ain't sh!t, most players that paid the extra money was for pre ordering and that they could play it before the game came out during beta, beta was well worth the extra $5, and your probably complaining about the items that the koreans got was because your poor in guild wars gold.

If you get to be a beta tester, id would pay that extra 5 bucks.
If its something lame, like a non max item with crap modifiers, no.

Hold on! Where can you preorder Guild Wars: Factions???? As far as I knew there is only the key you can add to your account to give you a free preview of Factions this weekend...

/preorder call any preorder items that you have on your account to show back up in your inventory in towns / outposts.
Europe did get it's own pre-order item: Information can be found here: http://www.guildwars.com/products/preorder-index.html

I think the /preorder command works only in towns. I did it a few days ago without any problems, but noticed it will not work while in instanced areas - only in towns and outposts.
The original pre-orders (there were six different ones in all - five in America and one in Europe) allowed players to participate in the pre-release beta weekend events, which did make it worth the cost (plus there was a coupon for the same amount off the full version of the game - so the pre-order essentially cost nothing). However, I do have to agree that I was disappointed in the stats of the items, which make them practically useless in Pre-Searing (a basic hammer I am using is still doing more damage than the War Pick), and there are many better items that can be found almost immediately in Post that offer some equal or better bonuses for less reqs.
I am hoping the new pre-order item(s) are a bit more useful than the last set, and think Anet should recode the original pre-orders anyway to make them more useful. Just like the uber armor in the game, these pre-order items are supposed to be a status symbol and aid in making your characters more unique. At the very least, they should be useful enough for us to be able to use them in the first place.

Think anyone interested in GW: Factions preorder should read this.

Specifically the part that says "I do not see a max damage item in the preorder. I see something of value, for sure."

Not disagreeing with the logic here, but it's lame not to build out pre-order items equal for all countries. I just think it would be great to have a pre-order item that is worth using even at high levels.
If Anet needs to sell more copies of GW to asian countries, then they should work on a better marketing campaign or adjust the actual price of GW. They work hard to keep all aspects of the game balanced, and in my opinion that should include the items you offer each of the countries.

I must agree with the people in here speaking their desire for better pre-order items. I was rather disappointed with the Ithas Bow, I must say. It's not max damage and it's not low req. I find better bows going town-to-town. Granted they all don't look as cool... and very few fire as fast (if any, I know the Ithas Bow has one of the fastest firing rates).
The +5 armour is quite nice as well.
But, in the end, I expected a high-end weapon I could use after level 20 (or even level 15), because it was a pre-order... which shows faith in the game.
Losing my train of thought now, ending the post.

You are completely wrong, the reason these regions got different items is because they were designed by the local NCSoft office and not A.net. A.net had nothing to do with these items, it was purely a marketing decision by the local NC Soft sales office, and they are PRE-ORDER, having been decided upon BEFORE the game went on sale in those countries.
Note - Arena.net - designers; NCSoft - publishers; the publisher usually gets to do do anything they want with a title from a designer, in this case they chose to have local offices come up with pre-order items.
P.S. - The Coca-Cola items were only offered in Korea.
As for sales, people keep forgetting that many Koreans play in Internet Cafes, the cafe has to by the game, not the players, the players only need a key, which they could purchase from the NCSoft store.
